Museum of History

The Yerevan History Museum is the history museum of Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. The museum was founded in 1931 as the Communal Museum. Currently, the museum is located in a building attached to the Yerevan City Hall. The architect of the building was Jim Torosyan.

As of 2018, there are more than 94,000 objects held in the Yerevan History Museum which represent the local culture from ancient times to the present day. The collections of archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, fine arts, written records, and photography, kept in storage in the museum, tell a vivid story about the past and the present of the capital city and its people. There are three scientific expositions of the museum, that have collected, studied and showed objects highlighting the history of Yerevan.



Erebuni Fortress

Erebuni Fortress also known as Arin Berd is a fortified city from the ancient kingdom of Urartu was founded by King Argishti I (r. ca. 785–753 B.C.) in 782 B.C. It is located in what is present-day Yerevan, Armenia. It was one of several fortresses built along the northern Urartu border and was one of the most important political, economic and cultural centers of the vast kingdom. The name Yerevan itself is derived from Erebuni.



Megerian Carpet Factory-Museum

Megerian Carpet Factory-Museum was founded in 1917 (USA, New York). It presents rare samples of Armenian carpets. Here You have the chance to take part in master-class of carpetmaking as well as taste delicious Armenian dishes in Megerian Restaurant.

Vernissage market

Vernissage market is an open-air market near Republic Square. The Guests of Armenia come here to take little memories with them. The market is full of handmade souvenirs, national Armenian carpets, traditional dolls, pictures introducing Armenia and and many other things.

Noy wine factory

After the Great Flood, on the 150th day of sailing, The Ark of Noah rested upon the mountains of Ararat. On this very day humanity was reborn for the second time in Armenia. Patriarch Noah after the Great Flood descending from the top of biblical Mountain Ararat planted the first grapevine in Ararat valley. Since then viticulture and wine-making have started in Armenia. Even if it is a legend, there are numerous historical archaeological facts and material witnesses. In Noy wine factory You can taste old Armenian wine which is famous all over the world.


Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex

Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex is dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide (1915). It was built in 1967 on the hill of Tsitsernakaberd in Yerevan. Every year Armenians from all over the world come here to commemorate the victims of Genocide. The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute opened in 1995 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the genocide.The Genocide Museum’s mission is rooted in the fact that understanding the Armenian Genocide is an important step in preventing similar future tragedies, in keeping with the notion that those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it.
